Lavazza Italian Film Festival 2011 in Australia

Next week the Italian Film Festival 2011 is on again in this part of the world. It will start in Melbourne and Sydney to then reach Brisbane in October.

If you have missed all the nice Italian movies in Italy, this is the perfect occasion to go and enjoy an Italian movie and practice your Italian at the main time, so enjoy!!

Mario Monicelli: master of the Italian Comedy

Mario Monicelli was one of the greatest post-war Italian cinema. On Monday night he killed himself by jumping out of a hospital window, where he was treated for prostate cancer.

He was 95!!! The father of the Italian comedy, the director of many important film such as "Amici Miei", "I Soliti Ignoti" and "Il Marchese del Grillo" .

He launched the careers of big Italian actors such as Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio Gassman and Claudia Cardinale.

He lived in the Rione Monti, in Via dei Serpenti, in Rome, where he was loved and well known by everyone.

We won't forget you...I remember seeing many of his films as a kid sitting down on the couch with my parents...what a wonderful time!!!

From 3 November to 1 December at the Australian Cinématèque of Brisbane in South Bank there will be a wonderful contribute to the personality of Pier Paolo Pasolini, a film director, poet and writer.
